New Traysian is the language of the Traysian people, spoken since the age of the Sea Moon’s Rise, when the survivors of lost Traysis settled along the western shores of Marcia and the eastern coasts of Albain. Though centuries have passed since the fall of their homeland, the language endures as one of the clearest remnants of ancient Traysian civilisation.
While it remains the native tongue of the Traysians themselves, New Traysian has gradually spread beyond their lands through trade, diplomacy, and cultural influence. It is especially common within the Rose Lands of Salbany, the Clay Lands of the Draemeres, and the Seadrake Lands of Glenwer, where merchants, nobles, and scholars often learn it as a second or even third language.
Its use is most prevalent among royal dynasties, wealthy merchant families, diplomats, and others whose dealings regularly intersect with Traysian society. In many courts, fluency in New Traysian is regarded as a mark of refinement, education, and status—sometimes even a necessity for maintaining favourable alliances or trade agreements.
The language itself is famed for its musical and flowing cadence. Words rise and fall with an almost melodic rhythm, giving New Traysian a sense of elegance and emotional subtlety rarely matched by harsher tongues. To many who hear it spoken, the language feels less like ordinary speech and more like poetry carried upon the breath.
For this reason, New Traysian is often described not merely as a language of communication, but as a language of beauty itself.
