Dain, younger brother to the Draemere king, is a figure spoken of across kingdoms with equal parts admiration and fear. Tales of his exploits have spread far beyond the Clay Lands, earning him a reputation that changes depending on who tells the story.

To the downtrodden, he is remembered as a liberator—a warrior who stood beside the oppressed when kings and nobles would not. To soldiers and rulers who faced him in battle, he is something far less noble: a ruthless mercenary willing to spill blood for causes few fully understood.

Yet regardless of allegiance or opinion, all know him by the same name.

The Black Dain.

Years ago, weary of violence and haunted by the weight of all he had done, Dain abandoned the life of war entirely. He disappeared into distant lands beyond the reach of courts and campaigns, seeking peace alongside a new family and a quieter existence far removed from the chaos of his homeland.

For a time, he believed he had escaped the fate forged for him in blood and steel.

But peace is seldom permitted to men like Dain.

The words of a mysterious oracle have now drawn him home once more, back towards a kingdom trembling on the edge of ruin. Old loyalties stir, ancient dangers awaken, and the shadows of his former life begin to close around him again.

Whether he returns as saviour, destroyer, or something in between, even Dain himself can no longer say.
