the skull of liberty

The Skull of a Prince · Symbol of a Republic

The Liberty Skull is a grim relic of a fallen empire, believed to be the skull of Prince Imbriduuz—cousin to Sarun, the last Mernic Emperor.

While much of the imperial family escaped Marcia during the Second Mernic Revolution—remembered bitterly as the Dirty Revolution—Imbriduuz was less fortunate. Captured in Karth, he was dragged before a mock tribunal in the streets and publicly beheaded before a jeering crowd.

In the years that followed, his skull was plated in gold and fitted with sapphires in its empty sockets, transforming it into both trophy and warning. To the revolutionaries, it stood as a symbol of the empire’s decadence and cruelty; to others, a reminder of how swiftly power may be stripped away and desecrated.

Even now, the Liberty Skull endures as one of the most infamous artefacts of the revolutionary age—an object both reviled and revered, and a silent warning to any who would seek the restoration of the Mernic throne.
