THE SEADRAKE LANDS

The Blue North · Lands of the Old Marcs

The Seadrake Lands are governed by the Kingdom of Glenwer, a hardy northern realm whose people endure the cold, windswept shores of north-western Marcia. Beneath heavy skies and constant sea mist, the Glenwers have forged a culture shaped by storm, salt, and survival.

From Drake Bay to the distant Bays of the Fingers, the unforgiving waters are haunted by the legendary seadrakes from which the region takes its name. Sailors speak of scaled shapes gliding beneath dark waves and of sudden storms following in their wake, though whether such tales are myth or truth depends greatly upon whom one asks.

The region known as The Fingers rises into steep and rugged highlands, its mountains becoming especially imposing around the great formation called the Knuckle. Though these peaks do not rival the immense heights of the eastern Elbais Mountains, they nonetheless provide breathtaking views across the northern highlands and the rolling green shires below.

Further north, the coastline grows colder still, battered endlessly by sea winds and grey tides. Yet even amid such harshness, the beauty of the Seadrake coast remains undeniable—particularly on those rare half-sunny days when pale light breaks through the cloud. Few places capture this stark splendour more completely than the lands surrounding Highmont.

From atop the towering Highmontian cliffs, one may gaze eastward across Bashtun Bay, named in honour of the legendary King Bashtun Blue Bones, whose memory still looms large in Glenwer history. To the west lies another magnificent bay, bearing the name of his equally renowned sister and successor, Queen Bashta the Fierce, whose reign helped shape the kingdom into its modern form.

Though often grey, cold, and outwardly unwelcoming, the Seadrake Lands possess a grandeur unlike anywhere else in Marcia—a beauty capable of stealing the breath from even the most travelled soul.
